Dublin’s largest wildlife reserve is the only remaining saltmarsh on Dublin Bay’s South Shore. The four hectares of brackish waters are an internationally important feeding and nesting site for ducks, waders and geese. Migratory birds pass through too, using the marshes to refuel and relax, with more wildfowl wintering here than in just about any other Irish Estuary. Plant life is abundant too, with the protected Saltmarsh Grass (Puccinellia fasiculata) among the species thriving here.
