The author, Mickey McGowan, was born in this 17th century thatched cottage. Inside, guided tours, a film and other exhibits tell his life story, highlighting how it has influenced his work, particularly his best known novel, The Hard Road to Klondike, (Rotha Mor an tSaoil). The house is in the Gaeltacht - Irish Speaking - parish of Cloughaneely. There is also a small café here serving light snacks.
