Ballyscanlan is a managed forest with a large lake. It’s crisscrossed with trails, dotted with ring forts, and overlooked by the Comeragh and Monavillagh mountains. Wild flowers abound here too, with flag iris, marsh marigold, horsemint, marsh orchid, bog orchid, fennel, meadow sweet and agrimony horse tail among the species on view. This diverse habitat is home to wildlife such as swans, coots and moorhens by a lake and red squirrels and long-eared owls in the woods.
