Famously lovely, Adare’s broad main street is flanked by quaint thatched cottages. Arguably the prettiest village in Ireland, it was made so by the philanthropic third Earl of Dunraven in the 1800s, who restored many buildings. The village’s Visitor Centre charts its transformation and nearly 800 years of village life through model enactments and audio-visual presentations. Adare Heritage Centre’s other attractions include a craft centre, the Dovecot Restaurant, Adare Woollen Mills, the public library and the Tourist Information Centre.
